What’s in your bag?

My backpack holds my laptop, ipad, air pods, gum, a claw clip, lip balms, pens, a water bottle, and a small bag. This assignment made me realize how few things I carry in my backpack. I feel as through this picture represents how simple I am by the minimal objects I carry in my bag. I prioritize comfort over everything which is why I try to carry as few items as possible.

Sketch 5

My triptych sketch is a play on karma as a bird pooped on the taller boy after he laughed at the little boy dropping his ice cream. An interesting aspect I came across while doing this assignment was combining multiple events in one panel. Planning how to fit the story in only three panels encouraged me to group occurrences together such as the bird pooping mid air for foreshadowing while showing why the taller boy was laughing with the ice cream dropping on the ground. This experience is very different from writing since I typically can write as much as I want and however detailed I want it but in this assignment I barely used any words and had to set the emotions through facial expressions.

I chose three important aspects of my life: tennis, my dog, and traveling. Tennis started as a family sport but I’ve played for around ten years so I really enjoy playing for fun. I have a German Shepherd back at home named Koda who’s five years old and I love traveling and seeing the wold. Tennis picture: here Travel picture: here Dog picture: here

Stuffed vs Real

I decided to combine a picture of a real dog with a picture of a stuffed animal dog. I chose this idea because throughout my childhood I’ve been a collector of stuffed animals. I used to view them as real live animals which is why I chose to combine a stuffed and real animal into one to represent my childhood self’s perspective. The only aspect I wish I could change is to have the real dog image’s background to be all white so it would look more cohesive with the bottom picture. My final imagine is a sort of fun view on youthful imagination and the concept of living vs nonliving. Photo credits: Top image: here Bottom image: here
